virtual birth doula support

Are you feeling unsupported, anxious, or overwhelmed about pregnancy, labor, or birth?

We can help.

Just like an in-person doula, our virtual birth doula support provides personalized, compassionate care that will help prepare you to welcome your baby. Our goal is to help you feel more confident, informed, prepared, and supported as you navigate pregnancy and parenthood for the first time, or as you add another child to your family.

During our time together, we will provide you with evidence-based information and resources to help you made informed decisions for your birth/postpartum experience. We are here to support those decisions, without judgment, no matter what they may be.

Whether it’s your family’s personal preference or due to hospital policy, having a doula present in your birthing location is not always possible. However, doula support is still very much possible!

Virtual doula support allows you to decide on your birth preferences prenatally, learn about advocacy and your rights during childbirth, and have a virtual guide and support throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth. You can feel more at ease knowing that you have prepared to the best of your abilities, and that support is available at just the click of a button.

Did you know...

Modern hospital practices have significantly reduced the ability of healthcare professionals (especially nurses) to remain at a laboring mother’s bedside. As a result, nurses are unable to provide mothers with continuous support throughout the birthing process. As a registered nurse myself, I can confirm that this is unfortunately true.

Adding a certified doula to your care team can bridge the gap and make a world of a difference in your birth experience.

What can a virtual birth doula do?

It can be hard to imagine what virtual doula support looks like, especially since regular doula support is already kind of mysterious (let’s be real – did you know what a doula was before you got pregnant!?).

Here are some ways virtual doula support can help during labor/birth:

  • providing reassurance and support during early labor
  • helping you navigate situations like back labor, prodromal labor, what to do if your water breaks, etc.
  • helping you determine when it may be time to go to the hospital
  • providing encouragement and moral support throughout labor and birth
  • answering questions
  • providing different ways to involve your partner/support person
  • providing education when new information is presented and helping you think through medical decisions
  • suggesting comfort measures and coping techniques
  • giving tips for changing positions and what to try next
  • giving ideas for creating a more comfortable labor space, especially in a hospital setting
  • helping you advocate for yourself (sometimes by speaking directly with care providers virtually)

Besides being virtually present during your labor, a doula also helps you prepare for birth.

Here’s how we can help during pregnancy:

  • birth preparation classes that provide you with evidence-based information and resources about: prenatal nutrition and exercise, pelvic floor health, stages of labor, routine labor/birth procedures, methods of induction, medicated and unmedicated labor, comfort measures and relaxation techniques, c-sections, labor/pushing techniques, basic newborn care, breastfeeding and so much more.
  • answering questions (and there will be TONS of them!)
  • helping you identify your birth preferences and creating a birth plan accordingly
  • helping you understand your rights during labor, birth, and postpartum in a hospital setting
  • helping you prepare your body for birth with stretches and exercises
  • providing you with strategies to overcome difficult moments during labor
  • giving tips for packing your hospital bag
  • recommending useful newborn gear
  • giving you strategies to navigate your postpartum stay in the hospital and what to expect
  • giving you tips on how to make the best of the “golden hour” in the hospital (including first feeding and bonding)

Doula support doesn't end after birth!

As certified postpartum doulas and certified lactation counselors, we have so much more to offer once baby is here!
